FAIRFAX, Va., November 19, 2009 — Argon ST, Inc. (NASDAQ: STST), a leading systems engineering, development and services company providing full-service C5ISR (command, control, communications, computers, combat systems, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance) systems and services to a wide range of defense and intelligence customers, today announced the official launch and opening of its C4ISR Training Center. The facility has been created to provide U.S. Navy ISR operators with training on ISR system operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance. The center will also provide the performance-based logistics needed to support Argon-deployed collection systems and sensors.
"The C4ISR center will provide Navy ISR crews a capability to train and maintain technology and equipment against evolving threats, thus helping these platforms and intelligence systems remain viable for many years," said Terry Collins, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Argon ST. "The center provides a single, integrated environment to allow Navy ISR crews to train in a classroom environment as well as in a simulated operational environment, utilizing live and simulated ISR scenarios/targets before being deployed."
The C4ISR center provides a robust training environment which facilitates both refresher courses and development of new training techniques. The center includes both actual systems and training aides such as Computer Based Training (CBT) developed by Hybrid Learning Systems and 3-D mission simulation developed by Penn State University Applied Research Laboratory. These capabilities will help ISR crews maintain operational competency.
Argon has designed the facility to be multi-functional. In addition to training Navy personnel, the center's personnel and equipment will provide support to deployed platforms. Also housed within the center will be the Argon team focusing on the design, engineering, production, manufacturing and installation of platform integration kits for Navy ISR platforms.
Commenting on the center's strategic nature, Kerry Rowe, President and Chief Operating Officer, Argon ST, said "We believe that the capabilities within the center will allow us to train and support not only our Navy ISR customers but other Department of Defense customers that deploy Argon ST sensors and technology."
